Las Vegas: Another case study.

The interesting things about the Vegas Shooting are as follows:

1. violence on the scale of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc has come to America. not from Islam but rather from its own home built madman with a gun problem.

2. the guy who did the shooting did it because he wanted to. Its as simple as that. he was a rich selfish pig. he had it all and it wasn't enough. he thought shooting a bunch of people would be the crowning moment of instant gratification in life.

3. this type of personality is common in the US.  its due to America's quasi religious worship of self interest. America, more than any other society on earth, preaches to its citizens that that only thing that really matters in life is self interest.

4. even the corrupt Republican contingent of congressmen are now realizing they have created a monster of epic proportions. and now they are starting to get worried about it.

i have news. its too late. there are 300 million guns in the us. and 310 million people, 70% of whom are furiously pissed off about the status quo.

that's probably the most volatile  mix in human history.

America's insane obsession with individuality and sexual festishization of guns are two of the ingredients that are responsible for the self destruction of the country.

here is the logic in a nutshell:

collective good does not exist, the only thing that leads to collective good is  blind self interest.
when in doubt carry a gun and if needed shoot someone. you are capable  of single handedly stopping any bad guy and in fact are the only one capable of doing so as you are the only one interested in your survival.

are you fucking insane?

that's the solution to societies problems? oh and believe blindly in our interpretation of the bible, morality and right and wrong and do what we tell you to do.

and this is freedom?

you gotta be fucking kidding me.

lets say that Steven paddock was a one in a million incident.

there are 310 million Americans.

that's 310  X 59 dead and 500 wounded.

that's more than 16000 dead and 150k wounded from madmen. that's not your normal mass shooter, that's the top 1%..... ;)

and yet no one in America does a thing. and the shooting has disappeared from public consciousness.

meanwhile half the country is in a state of total panic over brown people from the middle east. 40000 people will die from guns this year, more than 150k from the opium epidemic, and those things are ignored.

more people have died from gun violence since 1968 than all the soldiers in all of America's wars, and the answer is to make guns more accessible and sell as many as you can.

you are dealing with  a society gone totally dangerously insane.

  1. Another sign of the insanity is that there was another one, and it got almost no coverage because no records were broken.

I used to expect something would change after these, but when nothing did after Sandy Hook, now it seems nothing will.
